The Ceramio bowl is inspired by the Keramion Museum in Frechen, Germany designed by architect Peter Neufert and engineer Stefan Polonyí in 1970s. The reinforced concrete shell structure of the building consists of a single-curved, circular shell. An upward-cantilevering superstructure extends from it via a parabolic inner arch, integrating a skylight dome into this superstructure. At the center, the thin-walled roof rests on five sharply tapering mushroom-shaped columns.

Neufert designed the silhouette in the shape of a potter’s wheel, intended to clearly convey the building’s thematic connection. By transferring the spatial and performative qualities of the museum design to a different scale and context, Ceramino aims to create a dialogue between architecture and product design, confronting design approaches, production methods and material practices as well as phenomenological aspects.
